“Annual Trip”
Reviewed by Rising14 via Trip Advisor

Whilst I love a day at the races I try to steer clear of the really busy days at courses as I like to take a good look around before and in between the racing. Also I enjoy seeing and trying the various facilities on offer without mad crowds. These reasons have resulted in a group of 8 visiting Ripon Races on the first Monday of August for the past 4 years. This happens to be their Children’s Day meeting with most of the activities for families in the middle of the course. We take the gold or platinum package each year and stay on the outside of the course and what a great time we have had each year. From entering the race course to leaving the staff have always been welcoming and helpful with always a friendly word. As the crowds are not as big as a weekend meeting you get the chance to take a good look around what is affectionately known as the ‘Garden Race Course.’ What a lovely course it is and well worth getting in at gates opening and taking a gentle stroll around to view the floral decorations and the stalls selling their wears. Weather obviously permitting. The package, be it, gold or platinum, offers fantastic value with the usual free bet, a drink and a choice of meal. As a marker for how much the day is enjoyed, the same 8 people have attended the last 4 years and all have paid their deposit for next year’s trip with a waiting list in place for anyone who has to drop out. Well done Ripon Races!

We visited recently with our two grown up daughters and had a really fabulous day out. Since we discovered you can reserve a table in the restaurant that is yours for the day at a very reasonable price (£5) we’ve done that a few times. You need to buy premier stand admission to access the dining room and then you can buy whatever food and drink you like. one of the bonuses for me is that you can look down into the paddock and see the horses parading or easily get down for each race or get a seat in the stands. the weather was great, you don’t pay extra for car parking and I would certainly recommend it!

This was an excellent way to celebrate my birthday, we parked on the course put a gazebo up and set up a table with food and drinks. It didn’t cost any more to put the gazebo up which it does at some other courses. We had an excellent view of the racing and there was easy access to the tote betting and bookies. There were 13 our party of varying ages some who had not been to the races before. It was really good day out.

Michael and Angela Wilcock, Visited on Monday 1st August 2016

My husband and I visited Ripon races yesterday.

This first time we have been racing for a number of years and throughly enjoyed it. The hospitality and facilities are outstanding. My husband is disabled and we found everyone of your staff from going into the car park to coming home so helpful and caring. It was a breath of fresh air. We will certainly be back.

Thank you

Angela and Michael Wilcock

“Just returned from the races today… can i just say it was such a great day. Brass band, clean toilets, very tidy grounds, ease of access and egree from the car park and friendly staff…. i even had a few winners and the sun was shining. You may need a few more benches at the back near the band stand but got seated eventually.

Thanks again, Mike from Pontefract”

Janet Feather , Treated her father to a special meal and surprise birthday notice in the racecard. September 2015.

“Morning Erin

Just wanted to let you know we had the most amazing day at Ripon. Sadly a few weeks ago my dad fell and broke his leg and so we were unsure right to the last minute as to whether he would be well enough to attend. We brought him in a wheel chair in the end, had a lovely meal in the club lounge but his day was made by the greeting in the race card. He became quite tearful when he saw it! It was a memorable family occasion for all 12 of us. Thank you so much for your help in making it happen. With very best wishes”

Mr Barrie Hill, Enjoyed Ladies’ Day June 2014

“Congratulations to everyone involved in a superb ladies day meeting yesterday.
My wife and I took our granddaughter to celebrate her 18th birthday and I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed a meeting more than Ripon.

It was my first visit as we live in Accrington, but the organisation, activities and quality of food and drink at reasonable prices was exceptional. Well done everyone and I look forward to many more days entertainment in the future”

Stephen Mair, Attended our Friday 9th May evening meeting in 2014

“My son and self paid our first visit to your beautiful racecourse last Friday and enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Good racing and, more important, a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.

We are members at Goodwood and feel you could teach them a few things about provision of varied and plentiful catering outlets for all tastes…

Many thanks for your hospitality the other day – and good luck for the remainder of the season.”

Mr Bob Combes, Celebrated 60th Birthday in our Hornblower RoomRipon Racecourse _MG_8298

I would like to say how much I enjoyed yesterday. The Hornblower Room was an ideal venue for the party, the food was good and the good weather meant that people could sit outside enjoying the sun. They were all impressed by the racecourse and the friendly atmosphere; it is a venue to be proud of. I would like to thank all of the staff involved, they did a really good job.

I would like to thank you for the very unexpected treat of selecting the best turned out horse and presenting the trophy, it make a very good day very special and one to treasure.
