Are dogs allowed at the racecourse?
As with other racecourses, in view of the potential danger to dogs from the racehorses the course policy is to exclude entry to dogs for their own and others safety.
What is the dress code in the Club Stand?
We ask that badge holders dress respectably - 'smart casual'. Our interpretation of smart casual is no jeans, sportswear, trainers or shorts. On Ladies Day, we hope the ladies will dress, as is traditional for ladies day meetings, in smart attire and hats. The Best Dressed Lady wins a champagne lunch for two at the meeting of her choice.
What time do the gates open?
The gates open two hours before the start of each race meeting. This gives you plenty opportunity to arrange to meet up with friends and enjoy a meal or a drink before the racing starts and to familiarise yourself with the layout of the racecourse and our facilities?
Are children allowed at the racecourse?
Children accompanied by an adult are made very welcome at Ripon and they are admitted free under 16 years old. We have a permanent grassed playground area with swings, roundabout and slide, and at many meetings there are additional attractions such as rides and bouncy castles. On the first Monday in August we have a special Children's Day meeting with lots of added activities for families. Please note that children under 18 are not allowed to place bets in accordance with government gambling legislation.
Are there disabled facilities?
Ripon are continually working to improve their facilities for disabled facilities. There are disabled toilets and most of the bars and restaurants are accessible for wheelchair users. Many disabled visitors have commented that the ability to bring a car into the course enclosure and park directly adjacent to the track is a great advantage over many other courses.
Can I bring a picnic?
Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic to the racecourse enclosure, however, the variety of reasonably priced catering establishments available to choose from means that most people prefer not to. The choice is yours when it comes to food - there are restaurants, bars, self-service cafeterias and take-aways offering everything from a sandwich to an a la carte meal with waitress service.
