Time to reflect

Well with the first section of our season over it’s time to look back at what’s happened so far.
The Autumn and Winter had been exceptionally wet, leaving us on Heavy ground as well as the rest of the country.
With very little racing happening at the start of the flat season locally we were very lucky to race, but with such a disruption to the racing pattern we had 95 runners declared with us. Which is not ideal on such giving ground, and unusually we didn’t have any non-runners!

The ground quickly dried once our season was underway and within 4 weeks we have ended up having to water quickening Good to Firm ground to stop it getting away from us.
It’s hard to imagine a more testing time for the Turf, as all of the Grounds teams across the country have had to make massive efforts to provide playable surfaces.
The Turf has come together quite nicely with a minimum of chemical input, just regular aeration and cutting of the sward.
The hope is for a period of stability so the plant can establish it’s self for the coming season.

Well that’s all for now and I’ll see you at the Half Term Report.
