With the main event now less than 50 days away, the county is slowly turning yellow in celebration of the world biggest cycling event taking centre stage through Yorkshire. With yellow bikes on every street corner and the celebrations picking up pace, we are extremely pleased to announce that we have been selected as 1 of 17 official spectator hubs dotted along stages 1 & 2 of the race through Yorkshire.
The Grand Depart Spectator Hubs have been selected to provide the perfect race experience for everyone from the smallest holding 1500 people, to the largest with room for more than 15,000. Ripon Racecourse have teamed up with Ripon’s Market Place offering a capacity for 10,000 spectators.
The racecourse itself has its own permanent big screen which will be showing all the live action from the race, along with refreshments from their catering partners CGC events and entertainment for the children in the form of fairground rides and bouncy castles.
Ripon Racecourse is also offering on the day parking as well as a variety of camping pitches for the big event, with camping available from Tuesday 1st July to Tuesday 8th July in a variety of 3, 5 & 7 night pitches from just £150. With no additional cost for caravans/motorhomes and up to 4 adults per person, it’s the perfect location to enjoy a weekend in Yorkshire with an evening of racing to finish off the perfect weekend of action on Monday 7th July.
Erin Boswell, Marketing Executive at Ripon Racecourse, said “It’s great to have the world’s biggest cycling race coming to Yorkshire and to have it on our doorstep is just fantastic! We are lucky to have all the facilities for camping and the spectator hub already in place, so we are very excited. We hope that the spectators will stay with us for the Monday evening’s racing so we can show them what else Yorkshire has to offer”
